I bought this device to check the humidity and moisture in the materials around the house. I am a professional home inspector. Professional moisture meters have several hundred dollars, a $ 30 Humidity was tempting. My first impression was that it was a plastic toy and not a tool. However, it was very accurate when used in combination with a professional moisture meters. I take them home with me and read the plans for inspections sinks and toilets. Basically, I review what I see as a problem of moisture already. E ‘would be difficult to probe in depth in many materials, particularly the walls or other surfaces were justified holes scarring the push of a man in the house. Overall, I like to read this ad surfaces show a moisture content of concern. It read real good. I read a damp towel and a stick with some precision. If your goal is to determine the moisture in a basic position: “I think there is moisture,” this works well. If you are 99 9% accuracy and humidity can surface hidden, I would recommend a professional review with a meter or in combination with this device. Rating: 4 / 5

If the estimated water damage, it came with a $ 250 used moisture meter. If the wall and pointed out the moisture in the wall, I was right behind him and re-checking the rapit. It keeps all the moisture on the ground that indicated. I was busy not only at the tips and push into a corner. Quite easily. Money well spent. Rating: 5 / 5

I have hidden leaks in my home. Home inspection and a structural engineer were useless. After spending $1000 on them, I figured what’s another thirty some dollars, right? Well I’m too worried about ruining wall paper to push in the spikes, so I just press them flat wise against my walls and bricks where I am looking for moisture. I have found it to be really accurate. I mean I do this before and after rain near windows, plumbing, etc. and it gives the swing in readings, wet to dry again were there actually is a leak. The only thing I can’t get away with on is my wood floors. These have to be fully stabbed and still no real reading, but wood joists were O. K. ’cause they are rough, not polished. The first 9 volt battery is lasting really long. What a great cheap little item if you own an older home.

I’ve had this product for almost a year, and have had several occasions where I or friends made use of it, and were able to deal with water problems before they became water disasters. Also used it extensively after Hurricane Ike to assure that I had completely dried out my carpet in order to avoid mildew.

Something no home owner should be without!
